Living with chronic illness or pain
Chronic illness and pain can transform your life in profound ways. At Te Video I understand the isolation and frustration you might be feeling. Let me support you to navigate these challenges with compassion and understanding.

Feeling unseen and unheard
Suffering from chronic pain and illness can be life-changing. You might feel as though your life has been snatched away overnight, or perhaps the progression was so slow it crept up on you. Before you realise it, you no longer go out as much, limiting daily activities to what is most important. This often leads to feeling isolated and alone, especially as those around you continue living life with the same carefree attitude towards their health you once had.

Beyond the labels and accusations
Accusations of being lazy, inconsistent, contrary, and multiple misdiagnoses or professionals telling you to simply exercise more do not help. At Te Video Counselling & Psychotherapy, "Te Video" means "I see you". I strive to see the person beyond the labels, recognising your authentic self and reflecting it back to you. I understand that society often sees only the surface, but I aim to understand each individual deeply.

A space for your authentic self
My individual, pluralistic approach to counselling gives you the space you desire to explore in ways that are helpful to you. There will be no pathologising, no blame, and no dismissive attitude – simply a space to just be however you need to be in that moment. Together, we will create individualised sessions for you, which could include somatic and creative aspects, all from a person-centred perspective.
Embrace empowerment and control
After working with me, I hope you will become more aware of what you can control, feel empowered to make decisions that suit you, and carry less guilt about what you can no longer do. My goal is to help you navigate your journey with chronic illness or pain with greater self-compassion and strength.
