Healing from childhood trauma
Exploring your past with compassion to build a healthier future. At Te Video Counselling & Psychotherapy, I offer a safe space to process the lasting effects of childhood experiences.

Understanding childhood trauma
Childhood trauma refers to adverse experiences during childhood that can have lasting effects on mental, emotional, and physical health. These experiences encompass a wide range of situations that threaten a child’s sense of safety and well-being. This can include physical, emotional, or sexual abuse, neglect, household dysfunction, exposure to violence, bullying, natural disasters, or racism.
As adults, those who have experienced childhood trauma often face a range of challenges that may impact their mental and emotional well-being. These can include anxiety and depression, leading to difficulties in daily functioning and relationships; trust issues impacting the ability to maintain healthy relationships; struggles to regulate emotions, leading to difficulties managing stress and emotional responses; insecure attachment patterns; and challenges with intimacy and sexual relationships. Therapy can help process these complexities and create new coping strategies.

Our compassionate approach to healing
Each individual's experience with childhood trauma is unique, and the most effective therapeutic approach often involves a combination of methods tailored to your specific needs. At Te Video Counselling & Psychotherapy, I offer a pluralistic blend of talking therapy, compassion-focused techniques, inner child work, and creative/expressive therapy.
This integrated approach helps us determine the most effective strategies for your healing journey, ensuring that therapy feels safe and supportive. We gently explore your childhood experiences with curiosity and compassion, understanding how they impact your adult life, all at a pace that feels right for you.
