Beyond labels, into authenticity

At Te Video Counselling & Psychotherapy, the name, derived from the Latin "I see you", is my promise. I believe true healing begins when you feel genuinely seen, heard, accepted, and valued.

The face and meaning behind te video

"Te Video" is Latin for "I see you", and this deeply resonates with my approach. Being truly seen and accepted for who I am has allowed me, the founder of Te Video Counselling, to grow into a more authentic version of myself. This personal journey, navigating a world not always ideal for neurodivergence, processing a late diagnosis, navigating chronic health conditions and childhood trauma, has shaped my core belief. Society often only sees what is on the surface, but my desire is to see the individual beyond any label, reflecting back their authentic self to support them in reconnecting with who they truly are.

Caroline Smith

A unique space for neurodivergent minds

As a neurodivergent individual, I intimately understand the profound difference it makes to work with a neurodivergent therapist. For years, I mistakenly believed talking therapy didn't work for me, as traditional approaches often overlooked the unique processing styles and needs of neurodivergent individuals.

At Te Video Counselling, I offer a different experience. My eclectic person-centred approach is designed to create individualised sessions, which can include somatic, compassion-focused and creative aspects, ensuring that you feel truly understood and supported in a way that respects your unique perspective.

Working online allows you to design a workspace that suits your needs perfectly. Dress in whatever makes you feel at ease, choose a seat that provides comfort, keep fidget toys or personal comforts nearby, and connect in ways that resonate with you.

For those navigating a complex world

As someone who has navigated a world that isn't always accommodating to unique experiences, I am committed to helping others on a similar journey.

This includes individuals with ADHD or Autism, their family members, and those grappling with the challenges of late neurodivergent diagnoses. I aim to support those facing anxiety or stress related to work, relationships, and life itself. Additionally, I am here for individuals managing chronic health issues, feeling let down by their own bodies, as well as those healing from childhood trauma.

For these journeys, feeling truly 'seen, heard, accepted, and valued' is not just important – it's fundamental. It creates a safe, non-judgemental space where you can explore your experiences without the need to mask or conform, fostering self-compassion and genuine growth.  Therapy doesn't have to be uncomfortable, restrictive or formal. I welcome working at your pace, in a relaxed way that suits you best.

Did you know that in the UK, the titles "counsellor" and "psychotherapist" are not legally protected? This means that anyone can practice as a counsellor or psychotherapist without the necessity of formal qualifications.

When selecting a therapist, it's essential to verify their credentials. Always ensure they are qualified (minimum level 4), carry professional insurance, and are registered with a reputable ethical body, such as the NCPS or BACP.
